Brookline: A Thumbnail ViewBrookline is one of the most desirable places to live in Eastern Mass. With its close proximity to Boston, its lively restaurant scene, its charming neighborhoods, and excellent schools no wonder people want to live here. Three of the most popular neighborhoods in Brookline are Cooldge Corner, Washington Square, and Brookline Village. Coolidge Corner is what most folks think of when they think of Brookline. Right on the 'C' line off Beacon Street, this enclave is busy all the time. Do not miss it! Washington Square, just up Beacon Street from Coolidge Corner, is very popular with 20 somethings. It has many cool little eatries and nighspots. It is also right on the "C' line. Check out "The Fireplace" for an excellent meal in the winter! It has one of the best firpelaces in Greater Boston and the food is terrific. Brookline Village is one the least well know of the neighborhoods. Medical professionals love it here for it is just a couple 'D' line stops from the Longwood Medical Area. Its small shops and antique stores make for a relaxing Saturday afternoon. Here are some Brookline highlights: Brookline has an abundance of fine sushi restaurants. Coolidge Corner and Washington Square are the epicenters. In Coolidge Corner don't miss Fugarku. In Washington Square check out Super Fusion I. Locals seem to flock to Zaftig's. this restuarant wants to be a New York deli, but falls short. Keep your expectations in check and you will have a fine meal. For those of of keeping Kosher try Rubin's Deli on Harvard Street near Allston. Superior Romanian pastrami and great corned beef. What more could you ask for? Kupel's Bakery also on Harvard Street, has an excellent selection of everything Jewish. Knishes, rugilar, bagels...you name it they got it. Closer to Commonwealth, on the Allston border is Clear Flour Bakery. A more traditional bakery, fresh bread is there forte. Do not miss!
